Min Chung is the Music Director of the Gangneung Philharmonic Orchestra (since2021), is Principal Guest Conductor of Orchestra Haydn di Trento e Bolzano(since 2020) and Associate Conductor of Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra (since2015). On the symphonic platform, Min has led performances with renownedensembles such as Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI di Torino, Orchestradel Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Orchestra Sinfonica del Teatro Lirico diCagliari, Wiener Kammerorchester, Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, Orchestradell’Accademia Teatro alla Scala, Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, Orchestra diPadova e del Veneto, Orchestra Festival della Valle d’Itria, China Philharmonic,Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, Mexico CityPhilharmonic, Korea Chamber Orchestra, Busan Philharmonic Orchestra and DaeguOpera Orchestra to name a few.

In demand at opera houses across the globe, Min’s operatic highlights includethe Mariinsky Theatre (Madama Butterfly), Teatro alla Scala Milan (dieZauberflöte), Korean National Opera (Madama Butterfly, Don Carlo and L’Enfant etles Sortilèges) and Teatro Politeama Greco (La Traviata and Don Carlo). Born in Saarbrücken, Germany, Min moved to France at a young age where hestarted his musical studies withthe piano, violin and double bass (under thefamed virtuoso, Francois Rabbath). Min completed his studies at Seoul NationalUniversity, majoring in violin and German Literature, and made his conductingdebut with the Aloysius Symphony Orchestra, an orchestra based in Busan, Koreathat is mainly composed of children and orphans from disadvantaged backgrounds.Min’s experience with this special orchestra established his passion for musiceducation, and he actively worked to establish the orchestra as one ofthefinest youth orchestras of its day.

In the 2023-24 season, Min will conduct the Gangneung Symphony Orchestra,including Verdi’s Overture from La Forza del Destino and Saint-Saëns’ SymphonyNo. 3 in C minor, Op. 78 “Organ Symphony”. Recent conducting highlights includethe Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra in Hanoi Opera House, with a programmeof Tchaikovsky and Mendelssohn and a tour to Japan with the Haydn di Trento eBolzano.
